Welcome to the West Virginia Food Mapper

Use this map application to explore the WV Food System!

Instructions: You can use this map to search for WV food resources and businesses in several different ways. You can begin exploring the map by clicking the symbols on the map. The legend on the right shows the symbol categories. When you click on a symbol on the map, detailed info about a food entity will appear on the left.

To search for specific business categories, by product, or certifications, click 'Search Options' and chose your criteria. For example, to find a food entity who sells Honey click 'Search Options' and then under the heading 'Offered Products,' click the drop-down menu and choose ‘Honey’. You can choose more than one criteria. If you leave the search box blank it will give you results for the whole state.

To search for entities close to your location, leave the settings as "Search by: Location", choose how far you are willing to travel to access local food entities (e.g. 50 miles), and type the name of your town or zip code in the white oval next to the magnifying glass.

To search for a particular business or resource, change the first drop-down menu to "Search by: business name" and type all or part of the business name in the white oval next to the magnifying glass.

Once you are ready to search, click the grey magnifying glass and you will see search results on the left. Click each entity name to learn more about what it offers.

Welcome to the West Virginia Food Mapper

Use this section of the Food Mapper tool to look up slaughterhouses and meat processing facilities near you. This part of the Food Mapper is a project of the Meat Processing Working Group, supported by the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition. Find other resources on meat processing here www.wvhub.org/wvffc.

Funding for this tab was provided to the Working Group through a Broadband Technical Assistance grant from the WV Geological and Economic Survey.

Instructions: You can use this map to search for WV meat slaughterhouses and processing facilities in several different ways. You can begin exploring the map by clicking the meat symbols on the map. When you click on a symbol, detailed info about a meat facility will appear on the left.

To search for meat slaughterhouses or processors offering specific services or certifications, click 'Search Options' and chose the criteria you are seeking. For example, to find a processor who works directly with farmers (as opposed to cutting meat only for large companies or their own use), click 'Search Options' and under the heading 'Business Services,' click the drop-down menu and choose 'Works with Farmers'. You can choose more than one criteria.

To search for entities close to your location, leave the settings as "Search by: Location", choose how far you are willing to travel to access a slaughter or processing facility (e.g. 50 miles), and type the name of your town in the white oval next to the magnifying glass.

To search for a particular facility, change the first drop-down menu to "Search by: business name" and type all or part of the business name in the white oval next to the magnifying glass.

Once you are ready to search, click the grey magnifying glass button and you will see search results on the left. Click each business name to learn more about what it offers.
